Privacy Policy
FledgePoint · Updated October 27, 2026
This explains what FledgePoint collects, why, who can see it, how long it is kept and what you can ask for. It covers fledgepoint.com. The Travel Twist Biologist website’s enquiry form and call booking are covered by the website privacy policy.
Who we are
FledgePoint is run by Travel Twist Biologist LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“we”, “us”). Elizabeth Hingle is responsible for your information and is the person to contact: elizabeth@traveltwistbiologist.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash, never readable), the company you typed at sign-up, and the profile picture you choose.
- Purchases: what you bought, when, its price and access dates. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- What you save in tools: for example your Desert Tortoise Qualifications Form entries and saved copies, Daily Logbook entries, Field Journal entries with any photos or voice notes you add, Weathermate readings, Field Pin pins, Bird Band Resighting observations, gear checklists, On the Record entries, your Availability calendar (days you can work, day notes, home base and travel range) and date-poll answers, PDFs you choose to keep in My PDFs, a saved signature image if you choose to save one in the PDF Signer, project access requests, and feedback, reviews or suggestions you send.
- Company and project membership: which companies and project toolboxes you belong to, your role and your access dates.
- Usage: when you sign in, when you were last active, which pages, guides and documents you open and when, which tools you open, the kind of device and browser you sign in from (for example “iPhone Safari”), and basic technical details such as IP address in server logs.
- Phone notifications: if you turn them on, the delivery address your browser gives us for sending them.
- Email choices: whether you opted in to newsletter or update emails, and when.
PDFs you open in the PDF Signer are handled in your browser and are not uploaded to us, unless you choose Save to My PDFs or sign an agreement we send you through FledgePoint. Saved PDFs stay with your account until you delete them; a deleted PDF can be restored for 7 days, then it is removed.
Why we use it
- To run your account and give you the tools and toolboxes you have access to.
- To process purchases, renewals and refunds, and keep the records the law requires.
- To let company admins and crew leads manage who is on their plan.
- To keep FledgePoint secure, protect its content from copying and shared logins, fix problems, and see which tools are used so we can improve them.
- To answer you, and to send emails you asked for. Account and purchase emails (receipts, password resets, access changes) are sent when needed.
We do not sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising.
Who can see your information
- You. Everything in your account.
- Your company admins and crew leads. If you are on a company or project plan, they see your name, email, role, access dates and when you last signed in, and a short activity log of changes to the company (for example who was added). If you use the Availability Tracker, they also see your availability, day notes, home base, travel range and date-poll answers (Project Leads only for people on their projects). If your company uses the Crew Scheduler, the admins and project leads who build the schedule see your availability while they fill it in, and the people in your company see your name on the schedule where you are assigned. If your company uses the Daily Field Report, the admins (and the Project Lead for the project) see each report you file: hours, times, miles, location, weather, notes, photos and your signature. Reports you submit stay with your company as its work record even if you close your account; drafts are deleted. The same goes for DT Encounter records: the admins and the project’s lead see what you record (location, temperatures, tortoise details, photos and signatures). If you join a crew project in Nestmark, the nests, checks and photos you record there are shared with everyone on that project and stay with the company as its work record. They do not see your password, payments or the private entries you save in tools.
- Elizabeth (FledgePoint owner). To give support, keep FledgePoint working and protect its content, the owner can see account records and activity alerts, and can view FledgePoint as you see it, in a read-only preview. A preview shows what you see, including your saved tool entries such as Field Journal notes and photos, and it cannot change, download or delete anything. We only do this when it’s needed to help you, fix a problem, protect your account or meet a legal requirement, and every preview is recorded.
- Nobody else, except the service providers below, or when the law requires it (for example a valid court order), or to protect people’s safety or our legal rights.
Service providers
- Hostinger hosts FledgePoint and stores account and tool data, including nightly backups, in the United States.
- Google delivers our account and update emails (Google Workspace), Google Fonts serves the typefaces (so your browser makes a request to Google), and Google Analytics counts visits (see below).
- Open-Meteo provides the weather in Weathermate and the Daily Field Report. Your phone asks it directly, sending your location rounded to about 10 meters and nothing that identifies you.
- OpenStreetMap finds where a home base town or a crew meet place is on the map, so the Crew Scheduler can show distances. Only the place name is sent, never who it belongs to, and the result is kept so each place is looked up once.
- Stripe processes payments, when paid tools are offered, under its own privacy policy.
Each provider only gets what it needs to do its job.
Cookies and analytics
FledgePoint uses a few small cookies that it needs to work: to keep you signed in, remember which company you picked, protect forms against forgery, and run the owner’s read-only preview. These are not used for advertising.
We use Google Analytics to measure which pages are visited and how people find FledgePoint. It sets its own cookies (named _ga) to count return visits. Advertising features and Google signals are turned off and page addresses are stripped of query details. It does not run if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, and you can switch it off on any device by opening fledgepoint.com/?notrack=1 once (fledgepoint.com/?track=1 turns it back on). We do not use any advertising service.
To work offline, FledgePoint keeps copies of your tools and of the entries you record in your phone’s browser storage. Signing out removes them from that phone; if some entries haven’t synced to your account yet, you choose whether to keep them for your next sign-in or delete them. Closing your account removes them too.
Protecting the content
FledgePoint’s guides and tools are original work, so we take a few steps to protect them, and we want you to know what they are:
- Licensed-to marks. Guide pages and anything you print from FledgePoint show your name (and company, on a company plan) and the date, as the person the copy is licensed to.
- Activity records. We keep a record of the pages and documents each account opens, and the kind of device each sign-in comes from. If an account opens an unusually large number of pages in a short time, or many different devices sign in to one account, the owner is alerted. Nothing is blocked automatically.
- Two devices at a time. Each account can be signed in on two devices at once; a third sign-in signs out the oldest.
We use these records only to keep FledgePoint secure and to enforce the Terms of Use, never for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Account details and saved entries: while your account is open. Close it any time from Account → Your data: your saved entries, files and personal details are deleted right away. If you ask us by email instead, we do the same within 30 days.
- Purchase records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires (usually up to 7 years), even after an account is closed.
- Desert Tortoise Qualifications Form: saved forms and copies are deleted automatically 90 days after your access to the tool ends.
- Company project data: as set out in the Company Plan Terms, available for export for 30 days after a plan ends, then it may be deleted.
- Page and document activity records: deleted after 30 days. Activity alerts and sign-in device records may be kept while your account is open, to deal with misuse.
- Backups: a nightly backup of accounts and everything saved in tools, kept for 14 days and then replaced, so a closed account’s information leaves the backups within 14 days.
- Server logs: kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
Sensitive species and project locations
Listed-species locations, nest sites and project details can be sensitive. Only enter or upload what your project allows you to share. Project information is shown only to the people on that project, and we never publish it or share it with other companies on FledgePoint.
Your phone’s location (Field Pin). Field Pin reads your location only when you tap Get my location and your phone asks you to allow it. When you save a pin, its location is saved to your account so it’s on your other devices; it isn’t shared with anyone. Pins you delete are removed from your account. A text, share or map link goes only where you send it.
Security
FledgePoint is served over an encrypted connection, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, administrator accounts can require a code from an authenticator app at sign-in, and access to each company’s and project’s information is limited to its members. No online service can promise perfect security. If we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we will tell you without unreasonable delay and as the law requires.
Your choices and requests
- Update your name, email, password, picture and email preferences in Account.
- Turn newsletter emails off at any time from Account → Email preferences, or by the link in any newsletter.
- Download a copy of everything your account holds, or close your account, from Account → Your data.
- Ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or for your account to be closed and your personal details erased, by emailing elizabeth@traveltwistbiologist.com. We answer within 30 days. We may keep what the law requires us to keep, such as purchase records.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under your state’s privacy law. We will honor them.
Age
FledgePoint is a professional tool for adults. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and tell signed-in users on FledgePoint. Questions or requests: elizabeth@traveltwistbiologist.com, Travel Twist Biologist LLC.
